Jerry Edwin Farley passed away at home surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer on March 15th, 2013 in Cañon City, Colorado. Jerry was born October 15, 1947 in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois to Jesse Elmer Farley and Elizabeth Pearl Farley of West Virginia.
Jerry was a decorated Veteran who served his country during the Vietnam War and completed Special Forces Training. Upon returning home, he served as an Army Drill Sergeant. His life felt more complete when he became a father to Jolene and Jesse Farley. When Jolene had two children he became a grandfather to Austin Farley and Kaylee Archuleta. He took his role as father and grandfather very seriously and loved to fish with Jesse and Austin and attend Kaylee's soccer games with Jolene. Jerry raised his kids close to his parents and brother and near the beaches and rivers of Delaware. He enjoyed the later part of his life with his children and grandchildren in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Cañon City, Colorado where he fished the Arkansas River and walked with his beloved dog, Stella. Jerry also worked as a retail manager and lastly at the front desk of the Cañon City Econo Lodge.
Jerry Farley's memory lives on with his mother, Elizabeth Farley, his daughter, Jolene Farley, his son and daughter-in-law, Jesse Farley and Sigri Strand, and his grandchildren, Austin Farley and Kaylee Archuleta. He is also survived by his brother, Daniel Farley, his nieces, Rachel and Jessica Farley, and Daniel's girlfriend, Tina Hession. He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Elmer Farley and his sister-in-law, Lisa Farley. Jerry will also be missed by his extended family and by the many friends that he made all over the world. In lieu of a service, his family will be spreading his ashes in his favorite places in Colorado and Delaware.
