Mildred Grace Brizendine was born July 11, 1935 in Los Angeles, CA. She was an extremely loving, giving person and will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her. Everyone who knew her called her "Midge", and many people benefited from being her friend. She gave of herself and her time freely and joyfully. She was a devout Christian her entire life and many people chose to follow Jesus because of her testimony, both spoken and unspoken. Family was always of the utmost importance to her and everyone depended on her in her younger years. Midge is survived by her soul mate, Freeman Crawford; daughters, Susan (Mike) Rush, Karen (Ronnie) Stewart, Rhonda (Bob) Berry, and Jami Champagne; step-children, Michael Brizendine and Anna (Larry) Reynolds; grandchildren, Justin (Tanna) Stewart, Shane (Darci) Hale, Jen (Jim) Hale-Coulson, Casey (Jay) Hudson, James Berry, Heather (John) Miller, Brenna Rush, Carissa (Harold) Dickerson, Ryan Berry, Kayla Gonzales, Haley Reynolds, and Devon Reynolds; and great grandchildren, Jonah Biette, Questin Stewart, Bella Hudson, Olivia Hale-Coulson, Ryder Stewart, Sawyer Hale, Nolan Hale, Hayden Miller, and Adilyn Miller. She also leaves behind four brothers, Larry (Bernita) Merritt, John (Jane) Mettitt, Conley (Betty) Merritt, and Robert Merritt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Brizendine; her parents, Charles H. Merritt and Mary Neva (Rothenburger) Merritt; and infant brother, Richard. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Wilson Memorial Chapel in Canon City. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 4, 2014 also at the Wilson Memorial Chapel with a reception to follow the service. Inurnment will be at Mountain Vale Memorial Park.
