Charles Giebler Obituary
Charles Joseph Giebler, 52, passed away January 25, 2013, at his home in Florence, CO. He was born March 3, 1960, in East Springfield, PA (Erie County), to the late Marlin Curtis Giebler and Joyce (Kasper) Thigpen. He moved to Florence in 1992, and quickly made it home by being involved in many functions including volunteering to plant and water trees, put in benches and garbage cans, prepared Christmas decorations, and any other job that needed attention. He also served the community in the capacities of Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts of America; Board member, past President of the San Juan Bautista Cemetery Association; Board member and past President of the Florence Chamber of Commerce; City Councilman from Ward 2; and Mayor of Florence. He was also co-owner of Smashing Good Guitars, Mainstreet Grille and Bakery, and Charles Anthony Funeral Home all in Florence. Charles graduated earning a Bachelor's degree and Doctorate in Theology, which led to his ordination as a Bishop in the Ecumenical Catholic Church of Christ,and becoming the Pastor of Saint Jude the Apostle parish in Florence. Most of all, Charles will be remembered for the kindness and compassion that he showed to all that he met. Charles is preceded in death by his father Marlin, his fraternal grandparents Mr.and Mrs. Giebler of Morrisville, PA, and his maternal grandparents Joseph and Ella Kasper of Girard, PA. He is survived by his mother and stepfather Joyce and Bobbie Thigpen of East Dublin, GA, his two sisters Faye Belflower and Bobbie Jo Thigpen, both of Adrian GA, brother Rowdy (Deborah) Thigpen of Dublin GA, as well as a host of many cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces,grand nephews, and most importantly his friends who were considered by him to be his family. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., February 16, 2013, at the Florence High School, and please dress casual just as Charles would have wanted.
