Howard Jenkins Obituary
Howard Elliot Jenkins, age 89 of Fort Worth, TX died February 9, 2013 with family by his side. He was born September 15, 1923 in Victor CO. Howard was raised in Florence, CO. He attended Colorado A&M before entering the Army where he served in World War II. While serving in Europe, he was engaged in the Battle of the Bulge resulting in his unit, 755 Field Artillery Battalion, receiving a Unit Citation awarded by the United States Army. After discharge, Howard returned to Florence where he met the love of his life Ruth Sandefur of Florence. They had a whirlwind romance and were married on June 15, 1946, six weeks after their first date. They were happily married 57 years before Ruth's death in 2002. They had two children, Jerry Jenkins, who passed away in 2002 & Judy Golden of Fort Worth, TX. Howard worked as an electrical engineer for the Bureau of Reclamation for 30 years. Upon retiring in 1979, Howard & Ruth returned to Canon City, CO where Howard enjoyed hunting & fishing with his son & grandson & golfing with his many Canon City friends. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Ruth, & their son Jerry Jenkins. He is survived by daughter Judy Golden (Mark), daughter-in-law Judy Jenkins, grandchildren, Julie Lynch (Derrick), Jeremy Jenkins (Tanya), Ben Golden, Rachel Baker (Charles) & great-grandchildren, Caleb & Abigail Lynch, Connor & Riley Jenkins, & Kiery, & Caelan Baker.
