Marie Guadalupe "Pita" (Kavanaugh) Castellano passed away at home with her family by her side. She was born December 12, 1928 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to the late Rufino and Margaret (Harrison) Kavanaugh. Marie was raised in Las Vegas, New Mexico moving to Florence, Colorado with her husband in the late 1940's. She worked for the Royal Gorge Motel for several years getting the opportunity to meet several stars, such as John Wayne, Patti Duke Austin, Charles Bronson, Jane Fonda, and several others. She finished out her career working for Florence Manor. Marie was a member of Saint Benedicts of Florence, Colorado and was an avid Denver Bronco's football fan. She had a strong passion for music, dancing, and her children and grandchildren who meant the world to her. When not listening to her late husband's music, she could be found dancing with him on their porch. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Ernest "Nene" Castellano, sisters Tita Sandoval, Cecilia Lucero, and Mele Garcia. She is survived by son Rudy (JoAnn) Castellano, daughter Teresa (Bill) Hutchinson, son Ernest Jr. (Linda) Castellano, son Charlie (Bev) Castellano, daughter Tina (Louie) Anaya, son Anthony Castellano, son Andrew (Leesa) Castellano, and sister Margie Gallegos. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces, and extended family. Rosary will be held Saturday May 18th, at 9:00 to be followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows, in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Marie will have a graveside burial immediately after the Funeral Mass at St. Rita's church in Bernal, New Mexico where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.
