Mary Ann Romontio Obituary
Mary Ann (Volk) Romontio, passed away Oct. 24, 2013, in Tucson, AZ. Mary Ann was born Oct. 6, 1926, in Pueblo, Colo. to Frank and Frances (Kocjancic) Volk. Her parents, her sister Frances and brothers Frank, Joseph and John preceded her in death. Mary Ann is survived by her husband George of 66 years, son and daughter-in-law Gary & Jan Romontio, daughter and son-in-law Karen & Steve Gasser, grandchildren Stephanie & Steve Dietzman, Matthew & Stephanie Gasser, Staci Gasser and great grandson Jacob Matthew Gasser. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Rose Volk, Ann Volk, Irene Yates, Lydia Romontio and brother-in-law James DiOrio along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mary Ann was a homemaker who cared for her family, home and friends. She and George lived in Florence 43 years, in Canon City 21 years and in Oro Valley, AZ. two years. She was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Lodge, No. 104, Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars, No. 4061 and of St. Benedict's Catholic Church. Mary Ann was a sweet, wonderful woman who loved her Lord, husband and children. Her grandchildren were the loves of her life, and her home was always open. She raised a beautiful and bountiful garden each year and was the first mom to volunteer to send cookies and other homemade goodies to her children's school. She loved cooking, teaching family traditions to her grandchildren and was always willing to lend out a helping hand. Mary Ann's beautiful smile will be missed. Rosary recitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. at Holt Mortuary, 806 Macon Ave., Canon City, Colo. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, Oct. 31, at 10 a.m. at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, 622 W. 2nd St., Florence, Colo. In lieu of flowers, please give to: St. Jude Children's Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or Casa de la Luz Hospice at 7740 N. Oracle Road, Tucson, AZ 85704.
