Thomas William Hood,86, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2013.He was born in Denver, CO, on September 24,1926 to Joseph Cleveland Hood and Clara Grace Parse-Hood. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Darlene Joy Clapham; sons, Brendon Guy and Sean Michael Hood. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Susan; son, Samuel Thomas, wife Andie, grandson Leo Thomas, daughters, Jessica Grace Hood-Manville (Scott) twin grandchidren, Chance and Chelsea, daughter, Emily Elizabeth Hood, granddaughter Audrey Vanessa Hood of Paris, France, great granddaughters, Thais and Sasha. Tom graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO, then attended Pierce College in Tarzana, CA, earning a degree in Ornamental horticulture. He won the Santa Barbara Beautiful Award for his design on a medical building in that city. He later became a landscape-designer contractor for 30 years in Santa Barbara. Tom was one of Jehovah's Witnesses in the Canon City South Congregation. He believed wholeheartedly in the resurrection hope of returning to live on a paradise earth under the reign of God's kingdom, by means of the ransom of his son, Jesus Christ. He will be sorely missed by all who loved him. Every time you gaze at a beautiful tree, shrub or plant, know that Tom knew the names of every one of them!
