Eugene Espinosa, 99, passed away February 10, 2013 in Florence, CO. He was born on April 21, 1913 in Thurber, Texas to John and Theresa (Reyes) Espinosa. Eugene Espinosa was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II in North Africa, Italy and Sicily receiving a Purple Heart and 3 Bronze Stars. He was united in marriage to Barbara Morelli; she preceded him in death in 2005. Eugene was a devoted father, and grandfather, greatly interested in the lives of his family. He was one of the most generous and good-hearted individuals who always put everyone before himself. He was a self-employed mechanic for over 60 years. Mr. Espinosa is survived by his children, Shirley (Steve) Garcia, Eugene Espinosa, Jr., Wilma (Alfonso) Carreon, Carl (Dee) Huerta, Robert (Delores) Huerta, Frank (Jane) Huerta, Janice (Wendell) Daugherty, and Patty Wilcox; thirty-two grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and sister Delores (Tony) Dela Rosa. He was also preceded in death by his son, John Espinosa; daughter Barbara Jean Espinosa; and siblings, Louisa Benavides, Leon Espinoza, Margaret Hurtado, Tony Espinosa, Dan Espinosa and Sarah Dodge. Visitation will be from 2:00 till 4:00 p.m., Monday, February 18, 2013 at Holt Family Funeral Home in Canon City; and from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m., prior to Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Canon City, CO.
