Francis Eugene "Gene" Crawford Obituary
Francis Eugene "Gene" Crawford, 98, passed away June 12, 2013. Gene was born on October 1, 1914 in Canon City to Francis E. Sr. and Nell (Seip) Crawford. After graduating from the Abbey, Gene became the sole supporter of his family after the death of his father in 1936. He was drafted into the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942. He married Morrell Lois Fisk on December 21, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah where he was stationed. Gene became an accountant and spent his life preparing many tax returns for the people of Canon City. He was the past president of the Rotary Club, Exalted Ruler and Past District Deputy of the Elks BPOE #610, Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of Shadow Hills Golf Club, where he enjoyed many years of golf. Mr. Crawford is survived by his daughters, Mary Kay (Al) Anderson of Nebraska, and Patty (Mike) Cwik of Washington; grandchildren, Corey (Becky) Anderson of Hasting, NE, Cara (Marc) Skradski of Omaha, NE, Erin (Mark) Jennings, Katie (Jason) Trembecky, Chris (Candice) Cwik, Patrick (Kelly) Cwik all of Spokane, WA, Kevin Cwik of Seattle, WA, and Joey Cwik of Wichita, KS; great grandchildren, Gracie, Jenson, and Aspen Anderson, Maxx, Madisyn, and Brooks Skradski, Bryan, Megan, and Devin Jennings, Jonathan Seaman-Cwik, and Jonah, Josiah, and Jeshua Cwik; numerous nieces and nephews; and long time friend Nelson Moorhead. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Morrell; infant son, John Robert "Bobbie"; brother, Robert R. Crawford; and sisters, Ann Andrews, Mary Nell Snow, and Rosemary Crawford. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m., prior to the Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Canon City with Reverend Kevin Novack as Celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations are made to the Wounded Warrior Project, National Processing Center, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.
