After his tour of duty, he returned to his hometown and built a motion-picture theater, later trading it for a ranch near Kim, Colorado. In 1949, Doyle married Margaret Gertrude Huckaby and to this union one son, Grant Lloyd, was born. In 1967, Doyle married Mildred Eitel and became like a father to her two sons, John Paul and James Lee Eitel, as well as Grant. They continued to live on his second farm/ranch at Pritchett, Colorado until 1987, when they retired to Canon City and built a new home. Doyle loved music and singing. His first appearance before the public was at age 14, and for the next 60 years, he sang all around his home area, culminating with five years as a member of "The Vocal Chords", a barbershop quartet in Canon City.
