Obituary Condolences

William N. (Bill) Ward Jr., 87, formerly of La Junta, Colorado and longtime resident of Canon City passed away November 21, 2013 in Florence, Colorado. He was born May 27, 1926 in Muskogee, OK to W.N. and Georgia Ward. He grew up in Henryetta, Oklahoma. He married Betty Anne Munda on June 12, 1949. They soon moved to Wyoming and eventually made Colorado their home, living in Colorado Springs, La Junta, and finally settling in Canon City. During World War II, Mr. Ward served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater until war's end. He was associated with several veterans' organizations and was recently honored by induction as an honorary member of the Marine Corps League. Mr. Ward was a devoted father and friend who enjoyed bass fishing, upland game hunting, and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his brother, Garland (Ruby) Ward, Henryetta, OK; son, Marcus (Ja'nine) Ward, Buena Vista, CO; stepdaughter, Lynn (Terry) La Fever, Colorado Springs, CO; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory for the residents at the Bruce McCandless Colorado State Veteran's Home, Resident Fund, 903 Moore Drive, Florence, Colorado 81226. Cremation is through Holt Family Funeral Home in Canon City, Colorado.
