Marlene Lingo Obituary
Barbara Marlene Lingo, age 73, of Canon City, CO passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 20th, 2014 in Denver, CO after a seven month battle with cancer. A service will be held at 10:45 am on Thur, May 1st at Wilson Funeral Home in Canon City. Inurnment will take place following at Mountain Vale Memorial Park. Marlene was born in Canon City and raised on her family's farm. A graduate of Canon City High School, she continued on to earn her A.A. at Pueblo Junior College and a B.A. at Adams State College. She also studied anthropology at Mexico City College. Ms. Lingo worked as an International Flight Attendant for Transamerica Airlines for 14 years. Returning to Canon City to assist her mother on her land, she worked 14 yrs. in Canon City at the Colo. Dept. of Corrections, retiring as a Sergeant. She has continued to raise hay on her land until her recent illness. Marlene traveled around the world 3 times, visiting 133 countries, most of it before her time as a flight attendant. Her friends delighted in the stories of her travels. She loved to experience every culture, food and activity she could, appreciating them all. Ms. Lingo is a former Blossom Queen attendant and has served for years on the Frank Hickey Scholarship Committee. She is preceded in death by her parents Neal and Muriel Lingo. Marlene will be greatly missed by those who knew her, but her spirit and her joy for life will live on in us.
