Mrs. Shankel was my 2nd grade teacher at Heritage Christian School. I remember her teaching me to read way back in 1971. She was such a warm and loving woman. She loved her students and she loved Jesus. May the peace that passes all understanding be with her family at this time. She is safely in the arms of Jesus now.

I was fortunate enough to have been one of Mrs. Shankel's 2nd grade students at Heritage Christian, and though that was many years ago, I will never forget what a gentle, sweet, caring soul she was. Many teach, but she taught by example. My thoughts and prayers are with her family, and I hope they can take comfort in knowing that a little part of her lives on in every one of us who sat in her classroom.

Mrs. Shankel was my 2nd grade teacher at Heritage Christian School and was one of my all time favorite teachers. She was such a loving person and truly cared about her students. My favorite memory of Mrs. Shankel is when I fell asleep in her class. She must have known I was having a rough day as instead of yelling at me or waking me up, she came and draped her sweater over my shoulders and allowed me the nap I must have desperately needed. I have thought of her often over the years. I was truly blessed to have such a wonderful teacher. To her family, my condolences on your loss, and many thanks for sharing her with us.

Mrs. Shankel was my second grade teacher at Heritage Christian School. She was always so loving and sweet. Definitely a woman of God. Every summer I looked forward to her Backyard Bible Club. It was an amazing time of fun and Bible learning. What a ministry and commitment. She poured her heart into loving children and helping them know Jesus. She made a huge impact on many lives, including my own, and she blessed so many. She will be missed. Her family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I was saddened to read of Mrs. Shankel's death. I taught 2nd grade with her at M.I.Day Elementary in Minerva and was there the day her son was killed. She was a kind, sweet and lovely woman and teacher.

I had Mrs. Shankel as my 2nd grade teacher at Heritage Christian, and recall what a warm and kind hearted woman she was to all of her students. She was one of my favorite HCS teachers because of her sweet demeanor- you could tell that she really cared about all of us- she was a very genuine person. I'm so sorry to hear of her passing, and her family will be in my thoughts and prayers. May God bless and comfort you during this difficult time.
