Michael Autrey Obituary

Michael Autrey
age 61 of Massillon, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at The Legends Healthcare Center in Massillon. Michael was born Dec. 5, 1951 in Massillon the son of the late Henry Gresham, Sr. and Ethel (Trammell) Autrey. Michael was a 1970 graduate of Massillon Washington High School where he was a star football player. He went to the University of Iowa and transferred to Kent State University where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. Michael worked for Roadway Express as an operation supervisor for 31 years and retired in 2008. He loved cooking, dancing and working in his yard. He was a big Cleveland Browns fan and loved standing on the sidelines coaching the Massillon Tiger Football players.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene ‘Butch' Autrey and Keith ‘Buckle' Autrey; his sister, Julia ‘Scylla' Pearl Autrey; and his grandmother, Julia Z. Trammell. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved children, Ashley Michelle Autrey, Gary (Gwendolyn) Williams, Dante Williams and Rufus Williams III; his brothers, Arvie (Barbara) Autrey and Henry Gresham Jr.; his sisters, Ethel ‘Pewee' Autrey and Joshlyn Gresham; six grandchildren; and his special niece, Shelisa (Shaddrick) Stinson; and a host of special nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends and co-workers.
A Homegoing Celebration of Michael's Life will be held Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Rev. Charles Cooper will be Officiating. Mike was a great, respected guy. I worked with him at Roadway for many years. I will never forget his humor and how we all laughed when we worked on nights.
