Dale Carter Obituary

Dale W. Carter
Age 86, of East Canton, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013 in Oak Hill Manor Care Center. He was born Nov. 21, 1926 in Bellaire, Ohio to the late William and Florence (Jones) Carter. Dale was a 1947 graduate of Steubenville High School and a Steubenville area resident most of his life. He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran. He retired from Columbia Gas Company in 1989 after 40 years of service. Dale was a member of Moreland Christian Church; former member and Deacon at LaBelle View Church of Christ in Steubenville. Dale was an avid sports fan and a loyal member of the Big Red Alumni. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and William Carter; one sister, Evelyn Novington; an infant sister, Waneta Carter.
He is survived by his wife, Joe Anna (Rayburn) to whom he was married 65 years; one son and daughter-in-law, Gene J. and Mary T. Carter of East Canton; one daughter and son-in-law, Dale Anna and J. Michael Curry of Chesapeake, Va,; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Carter of Smyrna, Ga.; many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 1 p.m. in the Moreland Christian Church at 2850 Waynesburg Dr. SE, Canton, OH 44707 with his son, Gene Carter and son-in-law, J. Michael Curry officiating. Friends may call one hour before services (12-1 p.m.). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Moreland Christian Church, Oak Hill Manor Care Center or Great Lakes Caring Hospice. A private family inurnment will be conducted at a later date.
