Garmey, Dale  
Dale Garmey age 87, died peacefully Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, in his home, as he wished. For the past several months he had been in the loving care of his niece, Mary Catherine Payne of Westbrook, Maine. Dale was a life resident of Canton and retired from Republic Storage after 41 years of faithful service, during which he never missed a single day of work. He was a member of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church and Canton Elks Lodge 68. Dale was a World War II veteran and especially proud that after the War he was selected to guard the Nazi War Criminals at Nuremberg, Germany. He was predeceased by his wife, Yolanda, and by his three brothers, James and Donald Garmey and Robert Garmy. In addition to Mary Catherine, Dale is survived by his nephews, Ronald and Terry, and by ten great-nephews and nieces, to whom he will always remain a special "buddy." Family and friends will meet on Monday at 10 a.m. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with Msgr. Frank Carfagna as celebrant. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Griffin, Ella S.  
'Together Again' Ella S. Griffin age 99, of Sebring, passed away Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014, at Crandall Medical Center. Mrs. Griffin was born Sept. 4, 1915, in Beloit, the youngest of the ten children of Swiss immigrants, Jacob and Magdalena (Burri) Stryffeler. She was a graduate of Beloit High School and Salem Business College. She was married to Robert A Griffin, May 20, 1940, who passed away July 20, 2004. They celebrated their 50th Wedding anniversary in 1990. Ella and her husband Bob owned the R.A Griffin Company and American Clay Machinery Company where she served as secretary/treasurer retiring at the age of 73. A resident of Canton during her married life, she came to Copeland in 2005. Previously, she worked at the Hoover Company and as a secretary/bookkeeper at the Edward R. Hart Company. A member of the Trinity United Church of Christ of Canton, she was active in the married couples Sunday school class, Alice Mast Missionary Circle, and Bible study groups, and she and her husband were Youth Fellowship leaders. She attended Bethel United Church of Christ during her residence at Copeland. Ella was a 50-year member of Chapter 170 Order of Eastern Star, 50-year member of PEO Sisterhood Chapter BL, Canton Women's Club, and golf leagues at Tam O'Shanter and Edgewood. She loved to spend time with her large family, church activities, golfing, and dancing at various Masonic events. She is survived by 19 nieces and nephews, including caretakers, Marilynn Mooney, Marcene Buchs, and Robert Buchs. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Clara Carman and Nettie Buchs and seven brothers, William, Alfred, Harvey, Charles, Howard, Armen and Lawrence Stryffeler. Ella will be remembered by family and friends for her generosity and her warm and caring heart. She was a gracious lady. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor David Parry officiating. Friends may call the hour prior to the service. Henderson, Mary Ann  
Mary Ann Henderson 75, of Massillon, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014. Mary Ann was born on Feb. 24, 1939 in Bristolville, Ohio the daughter of John and Florence (Sexton) Hyde. She lived here most of her life and was a 1957 graduate of Jackson High School. Mary Ann worked at First Merit – Massillon and retired after 28 years of service. She loved bowling, watching sports, and tending to her flower gardens. Mary Ann was an active member of The Massillon Women's Club and Calvary Chapel. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Phoebe Hyde Moore. She is survived by her husband of 52 years Earl W. Henderson whom she married on Feb. 16, 1962; her sons, Brian (Debby) Henderson and John (Rhonda) Henderson; her grandchildren, Maggie, Mallory, Jacob, Andrew, and Jack; and her nephews, Chris (Cindy) Moore and John Eric (Lori) Moore. A Celebration of Mary Ann's life will be held on Monday, Dec. 29, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home. Her pastor, Dr. Robert N. Renberg, Jr. will be officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Herbert, Robert D.  
Robert D. Herbert age 88, of Canton died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014 in Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. Born May 31, 1926 in East Sparta, Ohio to the late John and Dorthea (Theil) Herbert. He was a life resident of the Canton area and was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran where he was stationed in Saipan in the South Pacific. Bob retired from the Dyner Corp. in 1984 and was also employed and retired from Metropolitan Ceramic. He was a founding member of North Industry United Methodist Church. Also member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, North Industry Sportsman's Club and North Lawrence Fishing Club. Bob was a former coach and had served as president of North Industry Little League Baseball and was a supporter of the Melscheimer School restoration project. He had been active in many bowling leagues and square dance clubs and loved hunting and fishing. Bob was very loyal in attending all his children's and grandchildren's activities and sporting events and was considered the 'Card Shark' of the family. Preceded in death by two brothers, John and Bill Herbert; five sisters, Alice Herbert, Dorothy Wilson, Jenny Sprankle, Minnie Slutz and Helen Habrun. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Eileen (Habrun) Herbert; one son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Vicki Herbert of Louisville; one daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Charles Milligan of Orrville; six grandchildren, Dan Herbert (Chelesa Wolfe), Adam Milligan (Elizabeth Manners), John (Lauren) Herbert, Andy Milligan (Andrea Kelly), Matt (Brandi) Herbert, Aaric Milligan (Kayli Swank); two great grandchildren, Issac Robert Herbert and Rylie Eileen Milligan; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014 at 12 p.m. in North Industry United Methodist Church, 155 Faircrest St. S.W., Canton, OH. 44706, with Pastor Jeri K. Johnson officiating. Howenstine, Catherine Loyal  
Catherine Loyal Howenstine age 69, of Tequesta, Fla., formerly of Steubenville, Ohio passed away Dec. 26, 2014 in Jupiter, Fla., following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on Nov. 16, 1945, the daughter of the late Dr. Phillip Leavenworth and Catherine Meyer (Blake) Karlson. Catherine's birth father died shortly after she was born, and she was adopted by her father, the late Edwin J. Karlson of Canton, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sarah (Sally) Ann Scoggan, and her aunt, Sarah (Blake) Heideman. Catherine was a graduate of Canton Lehman High School and Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio. She married her high school sweetheart in 1967 and they shared their lives and raised their family together in Steubenville, Ohio. Catherine is survived by her husband, James Howenstine of Jupiter, Fla; son, John (Amy) Howenstine of Powell, Ohio; daughter, Katie (Brian) Cich of Jupiter, Fla; grandchildren, James, Charles and Evelyn Howenstine of Powell, Ohio, and Lauren, Catherine and Emerson Cich of Jupiter, Fla; two nieces, Andrea Ford and Shannon Beard, both of Chicago, Ill; and her uncle, George J. Heideman of Tequesta, Fla. She was active in numerous Steubenville-area civic and charitable organizations. Catherine was a patient, kind and selfless person that filled the world around her with love and joy. Catherine's family has planned private services to celebrate her life. Huguenot, Daniel K.  
Daniel K. Huguenot Age 70, of East Sparta, passed away Wed., Dec. 24, 2014, in The Laurels of Massillon. He was born in Ashland, Ky., a son of the late Ford Huguenot, and his mother and step father, Beulah (Smith) Huguenot Uhler and Buford Uhler, and had been an East Sparta resident 11 years, previously residing in Canton. Daniel was a 1964 graduate of Ashland High School. He worked at the Hoover Company 18 1/2 years, and then went into the security business where he worked until he retired. Daniel was a member of the Sandy Valley Eagles. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Richard Huguenot, and his aunt, Virginia Smith. Survived by his sister and brother-in- law, Ruth and Dwight Blair, of East Sparta; his former wife, Wendy Huguenot, of Canton; one daughter and son-in-law, Kristine and Kenny Loftis, of East Sparta, and one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Cathy Huguenot, of Waynesburg; four grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, two nephews, Sean Blair and Dwight Blair, Jr; two great- nephews and three great- nieces. LaMacchia, Charles R.  
Charles R. LaMacchia of North Canton, Ohio lost his three month battle with cancer surrounded by his family at University Hospital in Cleveland on Dec. 21, 2014. Charles was born in Buffalo, N.Y. to the late Carmelo and Mary LaMacchia on November 21, 1937. He was preceded in death by his brother Anthony and sister May Bello. He is survived by his wife Lois; sons Larry (Betty), Chuck and Jim (Cindy) all of Buffalo, N.Y.; step daughters Debby (Chris) Mize, Wendy (Adam) Artimez, Chris (Cam) Cianci, and Tammy (Matt) Tissot; 12 adoring grandchildren; sister JoAnn Andolina and brothers Carl, James and Phil all of Buffalo, N.Y. Charles relocated to Cleveland in the 80's to work at Republic Steel as Assistant Plant Manager. From there he went to Century Products in Massillon as Director of Manufacturing. He was the co-owner of JC Bourbon Street in North Canton and owner of LaMacchia's of Massillon. In 2002 he retired to golf and enjoying his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday Dec. 30, 2014 at the Reed Funeral Home NORTH CANTON CHAPEL. Irene L. Link 77, of Baltic, died Friday Dec. 26, 2014 at 3:09 a.m. in Oak Pointe Nursing Home at Baltic. Born Oct. 26, 1937 in Ashland, she was a daughter of the late Rev. John and Pauline (Peffer) Johnson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baltic Church of the Brethren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Link. She is survived by a brother, Ray (Barbara) Johnson of The Villages, Fla; two nieces, Melanie Kunze of West Lafayette, Melissa (Daran) Chapman of Roxford, Mich; and four great- nieces and nephews. McIntyre, Betty J.  
Betty J. (Phelps) McIntyre age 88 of Minerva, passed away Wednesday. Born in Huntington, W.Va., to the late William and Avonelle (Ward) Phelps, she was preceded in death by her son, William McIntyre; grandson, Ozzy McIntyre; one brother and one sister. She is survived by her husband, Lewis McIntyre with whom she celebrated 70 years of marriage on Nov. 18, 2014; sons and daughters-in-law, Lewis and Kathy McIntyre of Canton, Greg McIntyre of San Antonio, Texas, Darrell McIntyre of Canton, Maggie (William) McIntyre of Canton; daughters and sons-in-law, Diana Cook of Malvern, Gloria and Gary Wade of Cambridge, Pamela and Harry Bartlett of Canton; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
