Alice L. Burns
age 82 of Perry Township, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 6, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born in Cedarville, W.Va. on Feb. 20, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Shirley and Onnie (Alltop) Mowery. Alice graduated from Canton Actual Business College and had been employed as a clerk receptionist. She was a long time member of the Massillon Baptist Temple. Alice and Billy traveled by motor home to the eastern states. They were members of Family Motor Coach and Good Sam Camping. They owned a campsite in Preston County, W.Va. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Burns whom she married on Sept. 11, 1955 and her sister, Dorothy Boyd.
She is survived by her daughter, Faith (Greg) Karnes; her grandson, Donald (Kristy) Clark; her granddaughter, Danielle (Jacob Welton) Karnes; her great-granddaughter, Aireona; her great grandson, Jasper; her sisters, Betty Thompson and Elsie Boyd, many nieces and nephews and neighbors, Ronnie and Janet who were like family.
Funeral services will take place on Monday at 1 p.m. in the Bruce D. Cummons Chapel at the Massillon Baptist Temple. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Massillon Baptist Temple or Tridia Hospice. 4680 Douglas Circle NW, Canton, OH 44718.
