age 85, of Minerva went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, July 30, 2011 in Aultman Hospital. He was born Aug. 8, 1925 in Canton to John and Hilda (Harris) Amelung. He retired from B&W Tube in Alliance where he was a crane operator. He is a 1943 graduate of Augusta High School, and a WWII US Army Veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater. He is a member of the Minerva First Christian Church, Sebring American Legion Post #76, 40 & 8, Sebring VFW Post #1036, Amvets of Salem and the DAV Post #50 in Alliance.
He is survived by his wife Nancy (Dowling) (Holderbaum) Amelung; three daughters, Janet (Bill) Burns, Donna (Bill) Myers of Sebring, and Anita (Bill) Hayes of Sebring; four stepdaughters, Kathy (Billie) Nelson of Fla., Carole (Willie) Martin of Minerva, Beth Holderbaum of Minerva and Debbie Holderbaum of Minerva; a brother, Walter 'Pete' Amelung of Austintown; 15 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 30 great- grandchildren, 11 step-great- grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Hoover; and three sisters, Grace Fels, Ida Jenkins, and Dorothy Smalley.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday 7-9 pm in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva. Following cremation, a graveside service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Grandview Cemetery in Sebring with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the
