Andrew P. Hussar
age 82, of Canton, passed away on Oct. 7, 2013 at the Cleveland Clinic surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. A life resident of Canton he was the son of the late Andrew and Mary (Shander) Hussar. He was a 1948 graduate of Timken High School, served in the U.S. Army as a private first class during the Korean Conflict for two years. He retired as a basketball official and also from the Timken Co. as a tool inspector after 43 years and 11 months of service. He was a former member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Canton, a member of Christ the Servant Parish at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, a long time member of the OLOP Mens Club, a past president of the OLOP School Parents Association, Slovak Catholic Sokol competing in track, field and gymnastics, Massillon Council #554 K of C, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Amvets Post #6 Massillon where he served as treasurer and was a stock car driver at Canton Motor Speedway. He enjoyed gardening. Polka music, golfing, bowling, puzzles (crossword and jigsaw) and attending his grandchildrens sporting events.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Delphine 'Dolly' (Sinay) Hussar of the home; children, Sharon (Cedric) James, Daniel Hussar, David (Denise) Hussar, Susan (Brian) Blosser, Lynda (Jeffrey) Hill; grandchildren, JD (Britani) Hill, Kristina Hussar, Geoffery Chewning, Brittany (Jake) Speck, Heather (Tony) DiAngelis, Alexa Baker, Justin Blosser, Jayme Blosser, Kristin Hill, Austin Hill, Andrew David Hussar; great-grandchild, Carter Freeman; brother, Richard (Juanita) Hussar and sister, Irene Burfield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Doanld Burfield.
Mass of Christian burial will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Christ the Servant Parish in Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with Msgr Lewis F. Gaetano as celebrant. Burial with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Wackerly Funeral Home.
