'Tony,' 'AC,' 'Sport', 73, passed away surrounded by his family, Dec. 25, 2013, after a short illness. Born in Birmingham, Ala., he was a longtime member of the Canton and Massillon communities. He was a graduate of the Westfield High School, class of 62 in Birmingham, Ala.; and a member of the Westfield Cleveland Chapter. Anthony retired from the Timken company after many years of service; and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He was loved by all who knew him.
Anthony was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife, Willie; daughter, Darlene (Larry) Compton of Canton, Ohio; devoted niece, Kimberly Cureton; and her children, Andrew and Alex of Canton, Ohio; grandchildren, Larry Compton, II, Anthony R. 'Handy' Compton and Morgan A. Compton; four great-grandchildren; brother, John H. Odell; sisters, Velma Branch, Ida (Ocie) Wilkins, Thelma Long, Olivia Wise, Geneva Robinson; mother-in-law, Mattie Cureton; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Moses) Smith, Vivian Jones; special nephew, Roosevelt Long. Special thanks to Lorraine and Clyde Jones.
Home going services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1403 13th St. SE, Canton, Ohio. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 1829 Bramblebush St., NW, Massillon, Ohio. Pastor Michael Lamont Miles, Eulogist.
