Charles R. "Skip" Westrich
71, of Canton passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14th, at Mercy Medical Center. Charles was born in Canton on March 11, 1941, the son of the late Charles and Irene (Teis) Westrich Sr. He graduated from McKinley High School in 1961 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1963-1967. He retired from AT&T after 35 years of service and was Chief Union Steward with the Communications Workers of America. Charles was active at the previous Fairmont Park Presbyterian Church as a Sunday School teacher, vacation bible school teacher, deacon, and elder. Currently he was an elder at the Church of the Covenant Presbyterian Church of Canton. Skip was a 100% morse code ace ham radio operator and famous news letter columnist.
Preceded in death by his G.I. bride and wife of 42 years, Linda Westrich, and son-in-law John Hagan. Survived by son David Westrich of the home, daughter Karen Hagan of Minerva; and brother Donald Barson of Canton.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m. in the Waltner-SIMCHAK Funeral Home, Canton with Dr. William R. Watt officiating. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday also in the Funeral Home. Burial in North Lawn Cemetery. Add your condolences on our website at www. waltner-simchak.com.
