85, of Canton passed way Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at his residence. Claude was born in Saltville, Va. on March 4, 1927, the son of the late Joe Bob Hilton and Nellie (Sawyer) Hilton Bird, also preceded in death by daughter Kathy Reeves; step daughter, Jo Ellen Harmon; three sisters and two brothers. Employed as a foreman for the Republic Steel Corp. of Canton until his retirement in 1987. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Eagles Lodge Aerie #2223 of North Canton and the VFW Post #2533 of Mineral City.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Norma (Thomas) Hilton; a daughter, Alice Fowler of Canton; four sons, Jerry (Debbie) Hilton of Louisville, Dale (Judy) Hilton of E. Sparta, Victor Hilton and Claude Hilton Jr. both of Canton; two step daughters, Elaine Owens and Pamela Parsons; four step sons, James, Ronald, Kevin and Daniel Lorenze; his brother, Wayne Hilton of Elizabethtown, Tenn.; and by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Special thanks to granddaughter, Kaela (Lorenze) France.
Funeral Services will be held in the Waltner-SIMCHAK Funeral Home in Canton, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 7. Friends may call Sunday, Jan, 6 from 6p.m.- 8p.m. also in the funeral home.
