Dante A. Diotale
85, of Brewster, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 at Country Lawn Nursing Home
in Harmon. He was born in Brewster on Aug. 29, 1928 to the late Octavio and Anna (Ammanniti) Diotale and married Cherie E. Evrit on October 10, 1953. She survives. Dante proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Missouri and retired in 1992 from Rubbermaid in Wooster after 29 years of service. He had previously worked on the railroad in Brewster. He was a member of Holy Family Parish in Brewster, Brewster American Legion, Brewster Historical Society and the Brewster Anglers Club.
Dante was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph and Christopher. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Cynthia Hanlin of Navarre, Gail Ann (Rick) Vaughn of Bolivar, Karen (Patrick) Kelly of Jackson Twp. and Amy (Terrence) Schaefer of Sylvania; 10 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brothers, Otto Diotale of Florida and David Diotale of Brewster; sisters, Angeline Kessel of Arizona, Laura (Louis) Tabellion of North Lawrence, Mary (James) Mach of Perry, Rose Diotallevi of Florida and Linda Fedevich of Florida; and three beloved cousins, Virginia Define of Navarre, Diana Gibbons and Julie Halco of Massillon. Dante will always be remembered as a hardworking man with a great sense of humor and infectious smile. His love, pride and respect for his family are his legacy.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Parish in Brewster with Father Edward Gretchko officiating. Burial will follow in St. Clement Cemetery in Navarre. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the Spidell Funeral Home in Brewster. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Brewster Historical Society.
