Elizabeth was born in Alliance, Ohio to Michael and Antoinette D'Apollo, who were early 1900's Italian immigrants from Castelluccio Valimaggiore in the Puglia region of Italy. Elizabeth could not speak English when she started the first grade. Despite this she went to graduate from McKinley High School as a member of the National Honor Society and completed business college. She was employed at the Crane Company as the executive secretary to the general manager.
In 1948, Elizabeth met and married Prosby Janello, her husband of 60 years and became a fulltine homemaker. Upon retirement, Elizabeth and Prosby moved to Las Vegas for 15 years before settling in San Jose, California near their son and daughter.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Prosby in 2008. She will be remembered for her strength of character and devotion to family. She is survived and will be greatly missed by her son John Janello and daughter Carol Parrella. She will also be missed and fondly remembered by Calvin Wolf, Betty Wong, Amha, and Anna. The family also thanks all those who gave Elizabeth care in recent years.
A private memorial service will take place on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Oak Hill Cemetery, 300 Curtner Ave., San Jose, CA 95125. Flowers can be sent to this address.
