Esther M. Hendrix
age 89 of Canton passed away Thursday evening at Laurels of Massillon after a brief illness. Esther was born in Waynesburg, Ohio on Oct. 2, 1923 to the late Henry and Rose (Baptiste) Battista. She was also preceded in death by her husband Donald Sr. in 1977, one son Raymond, one sister Adeline DiBattista and two brothers Benny Battista and Joseph Battista.
Esther was a 1941 graduate of Canton South High School. She was a member of the former Christ United Methodist Church where she was very active in the church activities. She was also a member of TOPS. Esther was a retired employee of Dartmouth Pharmacy where she had been employed for 30 years. Prior to that she worked for the United States Government in Dayton, Ohio during World War II. She was also Secretary to the Plant Manager at Ford Motor Co. in Canton.
Esther is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-law Jeff Hendrix of Canton and Donald Jr. and Tami Hendrix of Massillon; daughter-in-law Peggy Hendrix of Canton; one sister Stella Torcasio of Massillon; two brothers and three sisters-in-law Ben and Mary Battista of North Canton, Robert and Joann Battista of Massillon, Bertha Battista of Canton; three grandchildren and spouses Melissa and Steven Gibson, Michael and Keri Hendrix and Matthew Hendrix and one great-grandson Joseph Hendrix and her best friend Marilu Zorbas of Canton. The family would like to thank the kind and compassionate staff at the Laurels of Massillon.
There will be no services. Burial will take place at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to
