Frank E. Alexander
age 91, of Canton, passed away Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013 in Aultman Compassionate Care Center following an extended illness. He was born in Cokesburg, Pa. on July 8, 1922 to the late, Joseph and Filomena D'Alesandra. Frank was a World War II Army veteran, taking part in the Invasion of Normandy where he earned 5 Battle Stars, serving in the European Theatre. He was a wonderful carpenter, enjoyed woodworking and could build anything. Frank was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and the McKinley Eagles. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Alexander; his son, Frank "Gary" Alexander; brothers, Tom, Joe and Tony Alexander; and his sister, Rose Ross. Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Helen Alexander; step children, James (Stephanie) DeArment and Rhonda (Paul) Dobbins; grandchildren, Jocelyn and Matthew; numerous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, with the Fr. Edward Beneleit as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel.
