Gaye Lynn Hersher
57, of Massillon passed away Dec. 10 after a courageous four-year battle with breast cancer. She was born Feb. 4, 1955 in Natrona Heights, Pa. to James E. Jackson and Alice M. Davis. Before moving to Massillon this year, Gaye lived the majority of her life in Canton and Perry Township, graduating from Canton Lincoln High School in 1973. While motherhood was her true vocation, Gaye was most recently employed as a bus driver for Perry Local Schools. 'Miss Gaye' also worked at Whipple Heights Preschool and Harter Elementary in Canton. In addition to her parents, Gaye was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Jonel Wisenbarger.
She is survived by a brother, James (Loretta) Jackson and their sons, Skyler and Jacoby, of Perry Township; a brother-in-law, Mitch Wisenbarger; and a maternal aunt, Lois Horne. Also surviving are three children, David (Elizabeth) Hersher and their children, Noah, Matthew, and Mary Alice, Amy (Terry) Geraghty and son, Kyree, all of Massillon; and Steven (Jennifer) Hersher and children, Avery and Hannah of Poynette, Wis.
Friends may call at Rossi Family Funeral Home Thursday, Dec. 13, from 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 on Friday at Rossi with Rev. Fr. Thomas Cebula officiating, Interment to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Gaye's name to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County.
