Jack E. Brown,
age 87, of Massillon, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Saturday March 16, 2013. He was born on Sept. 4, 1925 in Canton to the late Fred and Pearl (Reed) Brown, graduated from Timken High School and served in the US Army in the European Theatre during World War II and was a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient. He met Bessie-Marie Ida Brumma at the Land o' Lakes Skating Rink and they were married on Jan. 1, 1947. He retired from the Timken Company after 31 years of service. Once retired, he attended Canton Business College and studied accounting. He was a past member of First Christian Church of Canton where he served as Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Elders and is still a member of the Kum-Join-Us Class. He is currently an active member of Perry Christian Church and of their Friendship Class. He was a long time Massillon Tiger Fan and season ticket holder since 1956. In 2010 Jack was proud to take an honor flight from Akron Canton Airport to Washington, DC to visit the World War II Memorial.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Bessie-Marie; children Dennis (Sandy) Brown of Canton, Steven Brown of Louisville, Bill (Teresa) Brown of Massillon, Gary (Sherie) Brown of Canton, Larry (Jaimie) Brown of Massillon; son-in-law David (Pat) Rohr of North Canton; grandchildren Christine Olson, Kenneth Rohr, Michael and Douglas Brown, Kaylene Williams, Kyle Brown, Betsy Tong, Tessa Brown, Shanon Bouscher- Burrows, Jeromy, Joshua and Jacob Martin, Peter and Jeffrey Brown, D.J., Brookelynne and Pryce Brown; and 51 great-grandchildren; brothers Fred and Dale Brown and sister Jean Ann Thompson. Also preceded in death by daughter Jean Marie Rohr; daughter-in-law Kathryn Brown; brother Jim Brown and sister Marilyn Lilly.
Calling hours are Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Arnold Funeral Home, 1517 Market Ave. Canton. Funeral Services will be Wednesday 11 a.m. at Perry Christian Church, 139 Perry Dr, NW, Canton, with Pastor Rod Geiger, grandson Dr. Michael Brown and daughter-in-law Jaimie Brown officiating. Calling hours are prior to the service 10-11 a.m. at the church. Final resting place is Brookfield Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Perry Christian Church, Building Fund or Aultman Hospice.
