James Madison Baker Sr.
passed away Oct. 26, 2012. Born 1923 in Charlotte, N.C.. Jim served with honor for the duration of World War II with The U.S. Navy in the Atlantic and Caribbean Theaters. Moving to Canton after the war, he worked for the Timken Co. attaining the position of General Supervisor. He was a member of the Canton Masonic Lodge. After 31 years, he retired to North Myrtle Beach, S.C.. He enjoyed his family, many hobbies, helping his neighbors, and teaching adult literacy.
Jim was preceded in passing, in childhood, by his parents. Jim is survived by his sisters, Evelyn (Bill) Pedrick and Dorothy (Bill) Taylor; his children, James Baker Jr., of Hartford, Conn., Robert Baker, of Carrollton, Ohio, Nancy Baker Stewart, of Barberton, Ohio, and David Baker, of Richmond, Ohio; his cousin, Carolyn (Gene) Little, of Richmond, Va.; and by numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; family; and many lifelong friends.
A burial at sea ceremony will be performed by the United States Navy. Donations may be offered in Mr. Baker's honor to the organization of one's choice.
