John A. Patterson, Sr.
age 90, of North Canton passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013. He was born Jan. 4, 1923 in Duncanwood, Ohio to his parents, the late, George and Kathryn Patterson. He attended Massillon High School and served in the US Army during World War II. For 50 years he owned and operated Patterson's Auto Service in the Canton area. He was a member of the North Canton Elks Lodge, Eagles Lodge and American Legion as well as a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Luncheon Club and the former Time Wasters Club. He enjoyed traveling, gardening and especially golfing.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Violet Patterson and Nellie Houses; a grandson, Brad A. Snyder and a granddaughter, Tiffany R. Pope. He is survived by his loving wife, Olga L. Patterson to whom he would have been married 70 years on April 30, 2013. There are two sons, John A. Jr. (Debra) Patterson and Mark (Susan) Patterson; two daughters, Terie (Richard) Snyder and Pamela (Gary) Petersen; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edna Harper and Evelyn Graber as well as several nieces and nephews also surviving.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church of North Canton (241 South Main St.) with Rev. Fr. Stephen Zeigler celebrant. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm at Reed Funeral Home NORTH CANTON Chapel (801 Pittsburg Ave. NW). Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
