John E. Skelton
Age 83, of Louisville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Saturday, March 23, 2013. He was born in East Liverpool, Ohio, Dec. 1, 1929, to the late Elmer and Grace Skelton. John was an active member of the Canton First Church of the Nazarene, serving on the board, in the choir and with the youth and young married ministry groups. He was an Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean War. John was the owner operator of R & S Plumbing and he had previously worked for Union Metal in Canton. He loved fishing, gardening, wood working, model trains and spending time with his family.
John is survived by his wife of 62 years, Miriam (Jones) Skelton; his daughter, Diane (Ray) Bridges of Indianapolis; his son, David (Lynette) Skelton of Avon Lake; and three grandchildren: Jennifer, Jason (Kate) and Julia Skelton. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Burchfield; and a brother, Elmer 'Bud' Skelton.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Wednesday at the First Church of the Nazarene in Canton with Pastor David Skelton officiating. Calling hours will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Canton First Church of the Nazarene or the Shepherd's Hill Nazarene Church.
