John Edward Curtis
72, went Home to be with the Lord on Oct. 30, 2013 following surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. He graduated from Timken Vocational High School in 1959. John retired in 2010 from Diebold after 43 years and currently worked at the WalMart Tire Center. He was an elder at Northminster Presbyterian Church in North Canton. He was very proud to be a member of the North Canton BPOE Elks Lodge #2029 for 22 years, currently serving as Exalted Ruler for the last nine years. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2223. John will be remembered for his deep love of his wife, children and family. His other loves were boating, golf, his beloved dogs, Micah and Maggie and his Cleveland Browns.
He is survived by his lovely wife of 53 years, Nancy (Mann); his children, Deborah (Daniel) Spies, Susie Curtis, John (Jane), Kenneth (Holly) and Sherry (Michael) Jacobsen; grandchildren, Alison, Andrew and Abigail Spies, Brittany (Dereck) Malone, TJ Leach, Jeremiah, Justin and Anna Curtis, Sarah and Katelyn Curtis, Brett and Sydney Jacobsen; great-grandsons, Dominic Malone and Carter; his brother, James; sister, Vicki (Rick) Haines; brother-in-law, Ron Mann; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Antoinette Curtis.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-6 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home North Canton Chapel, 801 Pittsburg Ave. NW. Services by the North Canton Elks Lodge will be held at 1:45 p.m. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 237 W. Maple St., North Canton, with the Rev. Susan Curtis officiating. Burial will follow in North Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Northminster Presbyterian Church, the Stark County Humane Society or the Cleveland Clinic Intensive Care Vascular Unit.
