John H. Fetty
age 92, of Canton, passed away at 8:55 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center. He was born April 24, 1921, in Mineral Wells, W.Va., to John Henry and Lena Lou (Leach) Fetty. Mr. Fetty was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and employed as a bus driver for Canton City Lines and later retired as a truck driver for Matlack.
He proudly served as a firefighter with the Pleasantview, now Plain Township Fire Department in 1948 and was an Auxiliary Deputy with the Stark County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of AARP and the Teamster Local 92 Retirees Club.
Survivors include his daughter, Theresa (Brian) Green of Malvern; sons, William (Debbra) Fetty of Breman, John R. (Joyce) Fetty of Louisville, Paul Fetty of Canton; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren: and one expected; brother, Ray (Ginny) Fetty of Navarre; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Fetty was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen M. (Blile) Fetty whom he married April 22, 1957 and who died in 2005; sisters, May, Rose, Lena, Hazel; and brothers, Bill and Richard.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at Grace Community Church, 1700 Hankins Rd., NE, Massillon, OH 44646 with Rev. J. Michael Bragg officiating.
