Karl A. Stutz
81, of Elyria, Ohio and Ft. Myers Beach, Fla., (formerly of Canton, Ohio) passed away Thursday March 27, 2014 at University Hospitals of Elyria following a short illness. He was born Aug. 8, 1932 in Canton, Ohio. Karl served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He earned a Bachelor Degree in Business from The Ohio State University. Karl was the owner and operator of Trico Oxygen Co. in Elyria from 1980 until his retirement, and was a long time member of The American Welding Society. Other memberships included Elyria Rotary, Elks (Past Exalted Ruler of Canton Elks Lodge # 68), Moose Lodge, American Legion and VFW Service Clubs. Serving the community in various capacities, Karl was a past President and Senator with the Canton Jaycees. Also, he was a past Plain Township Trustee and Clerk. Karl dedicated his life to his family and his business. He enjoyed golf, fishing, and was an avid fan and alumni of The Ohio State University.
Survived by his daughter, Sharon A. Stutz of Huntington Twp., Ohio; his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin K. and Darlene Stutz of Grafton, Ohio; and his granddaughter, Holly Stutz. Karl was preceded in death by his wife of fifty six years, Patricia A. (nee: Koch); his parents, Fritz and Lena (nee: Steinbacg) Stutz.
Family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. Monday March 31, 2014 at Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) Elyria. The family will also receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday April 1, 2014 at Arnold Funeral Home, 1517 N. Market St. Canton and an hour prior to services Wednesday (10-11 a.m.). Funeral services are Wednesday 11 a.m. at Arnold Funeral Home with Dr. Don Baird officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Canton with military honors performed by American Legion Post 44, Canton. Memorial contributions in Karl's memory can be sent to V.F.W.
