Madison D. "John" Bruffy
of Canton, died peacefully on July 11, 2013 with the love of his life, his wife of 35 years, Janet Bruffy and devoted family by his side. He was born in Diana, W.Va. on March 4, 1941 to James and Bessie Bruffy. After graduating high school, John served our country in the United States Army from 1958 until 1961 and the Army National Guard and reserves until his honorable discharge in 1966. He went on to retire from the Ford Motor Company as a member of UAW 1250 after 30 years of service. An avid outdoorsman, John had a passion for hunting, fishing and golf. Being a natural and skilled marksman, he took such great pride each time he would take that seasons deer. He loved to share his love of hunting with his family, having them join him to pass his love and respect for the sport onto them. Their partnership was amazing and their love for each other eternal.
John had a warm and welcoming spirit that you just knew you wanted to be a part of. John's legacy lives on through his pride and joy, his daughters, Christina (Brian) Baad of Canton, and Nicole Bruffy (Patrick) of Wadsworth and two children from his previous marriage, Hope Altman and Dale Bruffy; 11 grandchildren; brothers, Lawrence, Nelson, and Homer Lee; and sisters, Mary Helen Mazzo, Alice Belle Brown, Janet Cochran, Naomi Clutter, Ellen Ann Givens, Linda Saffle, Charlotte Jeffrey, Karen Hall, and Vee Nistendirk. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Marion "Shorty" Bruffy.
You can join the family to celebrate John's life on Thursday, July 18, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Waite and Sons Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, OH 44256 (330)723-3229. There will be a memorial service held Saturday, July 20, beginning at 10 a.m. at Grace Fellowship Church, 6282 Nave St. SW., Canton, OH 44706. A dinner will be held following the service.
