47, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 in Houston, Texas after suffering a stroke. Born in Cleveland, Mark and his family moved to Canton in 1977. After graduating from North Canton Hoover High School in 1985, he earned a Bachelors' Degree in English from The Ohio State University. Mark earned his teaching certificate while attending Walsh University then accepted his first teaching position in Texas. Mark lived more than half of his life in Canton and several years in Texas and Oklahoma. While in Texas, Mark taught English to seventh and ninth graders at several Houston- area schools.
Mark is survived by his sons, Matthew and Alex and their mother, Brenda Hilinski of Dallas, Texas; parents, Anthony and Mary Hilinski of North Canton; sisters, Lisa Chesterfield of Canton, Claudia Hilinski of Cuyahoga Falls; brothers, Greg Hilinski of Canton, Drew Hilinski of Westerville, Ohio and Matt Hilinski of Columbus, Ohio; nephew, Jimmy Chesterfield of Canton; Mark's fiance, Donna Deerfield of Houston. During the last years of his life, Mark taught Science to troubled teens at the Juvenile Leadership Academy in Fort Bend, Texas. The Hilinski family is deeply grateful to Mark's fiance, Donna for her love and concern for him during the final period of his life.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Mark's cousin, Fr. Joseph Hilinski at St. Paul Parish, 241 S. Main St. in North Canton on Saturday, March 1, at 11 a.m. Before the Mass, the family will greet friends starting at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations payable to the Memorial Fund for Mark A.
