Mary Alice Jackson
97, of North Canton, passed away on Monday, Nov. 18. She was born in Canton, Ohio on Jan. 18, 1916. Surrounded by her loving family and friends she peacefully passed on to her Lord.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard in 1985, brother, Carl Stevens and sister, Ruth Bollinger. She is survived by her son, Tom (Ellie) Jackson of Bonita Springs, Fla.; daughter, Barb (Bob) Alexander of Raytown, Mo. and Suzanne Griffiths (Benny) of North Canton; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two nieces and a cousin.
Mary Alice graduated from McKinley High School in 1934 and lived a very fulfilling life. A longtime member of Westbrook Park United Methodist Church and was an accountant by trade. Her and her late husband owned and operated LaVerne's Market for nearly 20 years. She was known for her unique wit and keen sense of humor. The jokes, expressions and laughter that Mary Alice brought to everyone and everywhere will be her legacy. She was known for her great cooking and baking--when she wanted to thank or acknowledge someone, she would bake them a pie.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013 at the Westbrook Park United Methodist Church at 2521 12th St. NW, Canton, Ohio 44708 with Rev. Joel Adkins officiating. Friends and family may call from 12-1 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at Warstler Cemetery.
