Owen W. Virgin

Owen W. Virgin
departed this life to join hands with our Lord on the morning of May 29th, 2014. He was born in Mt. Pleasant, Pa. to Zanello and Inez Virgin.
Owen was preceded in death by three sisters, Vera, Lottie and Betty, along with his brother, Ben. He is survived by sisters, Fawn Fulton and Leona Szymoniak; his wife, Delores, with whom he recently celebrated 68 years of marriage on May 12th; and children, Jeffery (Rebecca) of Arizona, John (Cathy) of Ohio, Russell (Karen) of Arizona, Darrell (Tammy) of Texas, Valerie of Texas, and Carla of Arizona; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Owen was a resident of Casa Grande for many years after living in both Ohio and Texas. Owen was a life member of Casa Grande VFW, having served in both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Air Force. During World War II Owen served in the South Pacific and was in the invasion of Iwo Jima, Saipan and Tinian. He then joined the United States Air Force upon his return from the South Pacific tour and honorable discharge from the U.S. Marines.
Owen traveled throughout many areas of the United States during his life and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family. As a child growing up, Owen and his brother, Ben, were boxing champions in Pennsylvania, and during their respective stints in the military. Many times the two were featured in the local hometown papers as the 'fighting Virgin Brothers' especially as they both enlisted in the U.S. Marines to join the war effort.
Owen was an electrician by trade and retired from TRW Metals in Minerva, Ohio. He loved old western novels and movies and was constantly working on something around the house.
