Robert Lamey Hoffman
age 88, of Naples Florida passed away on Sunday Jan. 27, 2013. He was born on Feb. 7, 1924 in Millville, N.J. to the late Max and Mildred (Lamey) Hoffman. Bob graduated from PMC (Widner College) after serving in World War II as a B-24 pilot in the Air Force. He married Elma Mae 'Billie' Hilscher in 1946. Bob was a professional engineer in Canton and worked at The Jackson Bayley Electric Company where he became president and part owner. During his career, he helped develop and had ownership in Controlled Power Corporation, Ohio Transformer, Power Systems Development, and SunOhio. A life long member and past Chairman of the Canton Downtown YMCA, Bob was an avid runner who ran in the Boston Marathon. He served as an Elder at the Church of the Covenant in Canton, Ohio. Bob enjoyed golf as a longtime member of the Congress Lake Club in Hartville, Ohio and was a charter member of the Quail Creek Country Club in Naples, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Hoffman. Survived by his wife of 66 years, Elma Mae 'Billie' Hoffman; sons, Robert R. Hoffman (Ellen) and James F. Hoffman (Nadine-deceased); grandchildren, Robert Christopher Hoffman (Erin), Rachel Daniel (James), Nicholas Hoffman, Andrew Hoffman, Joshua Hoffman; and great-grandson, Jason Daniel.
Calling hours are 5-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8 at Arnold Funeral Home in Hartville, Ohio. A memorial service is scheduled at 11a.m. Saturday February 9 at the Church of the Covenant in Canton, Ohio with Rev. Dr. William Watt officiating.
