'Together Again'Robert U. Bethune
age 88, of Massillon, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 21, 2013. He had been a resident of Brewster Parke since November 2012. Born in Cleveland, Oct. 6, 1924, a son to the late William F. and Rosie (Harrold) Bethune, Robert was a US Army veteran of World War II, having served with the 566th Ordinance Division. He drove for Yellow Freight until an early retirement in 1977. He was a 60-year member of Massillon Baptist Temple as well as a Master Mason of Clinton Lodge #47, F.&A.M. for 60 years.
Preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 57 years, Bertha Mae (Morrison) Bethune; his son, Robert E. Bethune; and brothers, John and Harold Bethune. Robert is survived by his daughter, Carolyn S. (Maynard) Zima and son, Ronald L. (Melody) Bethune; grandchildren, Robert G. (Julia) Bethune, Karisa A. (Joseph) Zinsmayer, James R. (Stacy) Kitchen, Jodie M. (Robert) Carpenter; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2013, at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon. Pastor Cecil Thayer of Massillon Baptist Temple will officiate. Burial will follow in Brookfield Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday afternoon, March 24, 2013, from 2-4, p.m. The family has suggested memorial contributions in Robert's name be made to Massillon Baptist Temple.
