Ronald Joseph Carretta
68, of Canton, and formerly of Alliance, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at 7:25 p.m. at Aultman Compassionate Care Center.
Born on Feb. 6, 1945 in Alliance, he lived in Alliance most of his life. He recently moved back to the Alliance area after living in Sarasota, Fla. for 10 years. Ronald was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and received his certification for electrician from Kent State University. He retired from American Steel Foundry, where he was employed as a millwright. Mr. Carretta was a member of the VFW Auxiliary while living in Florida. Ron loved animals, and in his pastime, he enjoyed golfing and spending time with his friends.
Survivors include his daughter, Renee Carretta of Sarasota, Fla.; his son, Keith Carretta of Bolivar; his grandson, Benjamin Carretta; his father, Americo Carl Carretta of Stow; and three sisters, Valerie Degenhard of Canton, Tamara Hassler of Damascus and Lynnette Gennett of Canton. Preceding him in death was his wife, Kay Carretta; and his mother, Helen (Znosko) Featherson.
The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, from 5-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
