Steven R. Goodwin
age 64, of Canton, formerly of Hartville, passed away on Friday afternoon, July 5, 2013 after a long illness. He was born in Amma, W.Va., on May 12, 1949. Steve married Patricia McCune on Jan. 7, 1968 and they moved to Hartville the same day. He was an industrial electrician for over 25 years and retired from Owens- Corning in industrial sales. A Hartville Fire Department Volunteer and Paramedic, he was one of the first graduates from the Hartville Paramedic Program. A long standing member of the Youngstown All Breed Training Club, he was known as a compassionate dog trainer and animal lover.
He is survived by his wife, Pat of 45 years; children, Amie Goodwin of Hartville, Jamie Goodwin of Akron, Jason Goodwin of Canton; grandchildren, Alexa and Sierra Walker; mother, Eula Mae Goodwin and brother, Russell (Melissa) Goodwin all of Amma, W.Va.; beloved pets, Ellie, Che and Cora; and numerous extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Ray Goodwin and brother, Roger Goodwin.
Calling hours are Tuesday 5-7 p.m. at Arnold Funeral Home Hartville. Funeral services begin Tuesday 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Marvin Thomas officiating. On Wednesday, a procession forms at 11 a.m. at the funeral home to Hillside Cemetery for committal services at noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be extended to the family.
