Dr. Thomas E. Violand, D.O.
age 79, of N. Canton, passed away Monday, April 8, 2013. He was born Nov. 26, 1933 in Louisville, Ohio to the late Amadeus and Marie (Baughman) Violand. Tom was a 1951 graduate of Louisville High School. He was one of the founders of Doctors Hospital and ran a family practice in Massillon for many years. He most recently ran the Tom Violand Medical Clinic in Canton. Tom had been the Sports physician at Louisville H.S. (for 21 years) and Malone College. He was also was an active member of the North Canton YMCA.
Tom is survived by his wife, Joanne (King) Violand; daughter, Kathy (Larry) Blind of Louisville; two sons, Tom (Gail) Violand of California, Scott (Jane) Violand of Columbus; five grandchildren, Katie, Shannon, Amanda, Veronica and Megan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday morning at St. Paul's Catholic Church in North Canton with Rev. James A. Clarke as celebrant. Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening at Stier-Israel Funeral Home in Louisville and 9-9:30 a.m. Friday morning at the church. Entombment will be in North Lawn Cemetery, Canton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Catholic Church, 241 S. Main St, North Canton, OH 44720.
