Went home to our Lord on Dec. 13, 2012. Born to Lloyd W. and Fannie (Gibson) Green on Dec. 7, 1926 in Young Harris, Ga. He moved to Ohio as a child, attended Malvern Schools until he joined the Navy during World War II. Upon returning home he married his high school sweetheart, Myra Jo Thomas. They had two daughters.
Preceded in death by both parents and brother, William. He is survived by his wife of over 64 years, Myra J. Green; daughter, Karen (Del) Wickersham; one grandson, Jesse (Holly); two step grandsons, Michael (Laura), Eric (JoAnn) Wickersham; two great-grandchildren; seven step great- grandchildren, one step great- great-granddaughter; sister, Annie Allen and brother, Wade. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also surviving. Wayne was a devoted husband, son, father, brother and friend. Lifelong outdoorsman, he loved nature and all of God's creatures. Some favorites were gardening, steam engine trains and traveling our country. He was a long time member of Myers Lake Sportsman's Club. He could talk with anyone he met and was always a great kidder. Wayne retired from Babcock and Wilcox after 30 years of service.
Funeral service will be conducted Monday at 10:30 am in Canton Baptist Temple with Rev. Mike Frazier officiating. Interment will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. Calling hours will be held Sunday afternoon from 1-3 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel as well as Monday from 9:30-10:30 in church.
