William Earl Clark
age 85 of Canton, Ohio passed away Wednesday, March 12 at the Aultman Compassionate Care Center after an extended illness. He was one of six children born to the late Earl and Violet Clark. William was born in Cleveland, Ohio and became a lifelong resident of Canton. William was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rose, of 61 years. He was also preceded by brother Jack Clark of Kimbolton and sister Patricia Dolan of Massillon.
He is survived by his son Timothy Clark, Sr. (Darlene) of Canton and daughter Kimberly Clark of New Philadelphia. Also left to cherish his memory are two grandsons, Timothy Clark, Jr. of Canton and Michael Clark (Lauren) of Massillon. In addition to his immediate family he leaves behind two brothers, Harry (Betty) of Roseville, Calif. and Frank of Canyon City, Colo. and a sister Shirley Myers(Ronald) of Manton, Calif. and brother-in-law Larry Dolan of Massillon along with numerous nieces and nephews and last, but not least, his loving cat "Yoshko".
William was a graduate of Canton Lincoln High School. In 1945 he joined the United States Coast Guard and later enlisted in the United States Army as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division. In 1951, he joined the Canton Police Department and was a member of the department for 30 years. During his time with the department he proudly rode motorcycle in the traffic division which escorted Presidents Kennedy and Nixon upon their visits to Canton and was part of the Hall Of Fame police escort to the Hall of Fame Parade. William also was the founder of several businesses in the Canton area including C&S Vending, Funn- Fest Arcade, Varsity Tavern, and his pride and joy, Clark & Son Billiard Supply which he started with his son Tim in 1964. The family business is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary this year and is in its third generation of ownership. In 1999, he was meritoriously inducted into the G.C.A.B.A Billiard Hall of Fame. William, with his family, loved to camp, fish and golf, travel the country, and spend time with the many friends that they had made over the many years. William will be sorely missed by his family and friends and be remembered in our hearts forever.
Services will be conducted Monday at 10 a.m. at Schneeberger Funeral Home, 2222 Fulton Rd. N.W. Canton, Ohio 44709 with Reverend Paul Gerycz officiating. Interment in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends and family may call Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8p.m at the funeral home.
