Age 88, of Canton passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at Cleveland Clinic from complications from stroke. Born on Jan. 5, 1925 to her parents, James and Viola (Morgan) Stanley in Pennsylvania she was a life member of Ladies Auxiliary VFW, enjoyed music and dancing and was lifetime member of Ohio Country and Western Music Association, and F.O.E. Local 2304. She worked at Mercy Medical Center for many years as a nursing assistant. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Charles 'Frank' Gillilan; one granddaughter, Debbie Simon; two sisters, Virginia Herrle and Mable Taylor; four brothers, Richard Stanley, Edward Stanley, James Stanley and Joseph Stanley.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte 'Frankie' Simon; two sons, Jim (Jean) Gillilan and Glenn Gillilan; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Winnie is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Joe (Carole) Gillilan, Roy (Mary) Gillilan; her sister-in-law and dear friend, Mary Gillilan; many nieces and nephews.
A private cremation has taken place and the family will receive friends on Wednesday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Wackerly Funeral Home. Personal condolences are invited on line at our: 'On Line Registry Page' at
