Daniel Medal Obituary

Daniel R. Medal
age 51, of North Canton, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011. He was born on Sept. 26, 1959 and was a 1978 graduate of North Canton Hoover High School. He was the owner of Valley Saver Magazine for 20 years, and also worked in construction and off shore drilling. He was a very compassionate, hard working, happy, fun loving son, with a Heart of 'Gold'. He was an accomplished drummer and musician, a tap dancer as a child and had a love for music, and loved riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his family. Dan was preceded in death by his brother, Michael J. Medal.
Survivors include his parents, Patti (Bob) Allen, and Nick (Brenda Newhouse) Medal, formerly owner of Nick's Shoe Service, Canton, Ohio; one brother, Joseph (Shari); one sister, Gina (Jay) Nelson; beloved friend and companion, Brenda Lintz; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel, with the Rev. Delaney Young officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday in the funeral home.

My memories are of a kid with a big smile and an even bigger head of hair.

No matter how much time goes by, some people remain in our hearts forever. It's been many years since I first met Danny when he was playing drums at Lamoors. I am so sad to hear of Danny's passing. The first time I saw him he was tap dancing at Dick Freshwater's Dance Studio in Canton. He was always so much fun to be around. Danny and I knew each other as children and I did know he could tap dance because I saw him. He graduated with me and had been attending our monthly get together with other classmates. It makes me so sad to know he's gone. Gods blessings and comfort to all his family and friends.
