William Dickson Obituary
Age 79, died early Sunday Morning, January 14, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, Ohio following a brief illness. He was born December 29, 1938 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Hugh M. and Wilma Dickson (Kelly).
Bill graduated from Jackson Milton High School in 1957 and Baldwin Wallace College in 1961. After his college graduation, Bill enlisted in the Navy and graduated from Officer Candidate School in Newport, R.I. He spent five years in the Navy before beginning his career with Ohio Power/AEP in Canton, Ohio. He graduated from the University of Akron Law School in 1971 and passed the Bar Exam in 1972. He spent his working career in the Human Resources/Labor Relations field with A.E.P in Canton, Athens, and Lancaster Ohio, Standard Oil of Ohio (Old Ben Coal) in Lexington Kentucky, and Argonne National Laboratory in Chicago Illinois. He also worked in private practice as an attorney at the end of his career and in retirement.
Bill is survived by his college sweetheart, Sandra Dickson (Schumaker); son, Andrew Dickson; and grandchildren, Andrew Dickson Jr. and Alyssa Dickson. Sisters, Sandra McCabe (Chuck) and MaryJane Tranovich (David) and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Dickson.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday January 20, 2018 at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon with visitation from 12 noon – 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ in Bill's name.
