Alonzo B. Brown Obituary
Alonzo B. Brown
86, joined his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 11:13 a.m. following an extended illness. Loving son of the late Thenie and Sol Brown, Alonzo was born April 14, 1927 in Canton, Ohio. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Alonzo was also known to be a very compassionate, caring and selfless individual. He served his country as a proud member of the United States Navy. Though spending time with his loving wife of 61 years was the greatest joy of his life, Alonzo "Poppy" Brown, also enjoyed music, especially the oldies, family get-togethers, and spending hours at the bowling alley. Alonzo was preceded in death by his loving wife Ella Brown; parents Thenie and Sol Brown; his brothers, Matt, Charles, Freeman and Louis; sisters, Ida and Lena; and his two loving children, Alonzo Brown Jr. and Violet L. Brown.
Continuing to love and cherish his memory are his three sons and two daughters-in-law, James, Richard and Eathel, and Mark and Kathy Brown; six grandchildren, Tiffeny, Camille, Mark II (Dena), Tanisha and Latasha Brown and Starla McNair; 17 great-grandchildren, Guy, Kasey, Mykal, Adrian, Mark III, Benjamin, Cameron and Coreon Brown, Quintin Polack, Tyler and Tyrell McNair, Kellye, Tommy, Adam, Amanda, Becky and Amy Bryant; and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends.
Family and friends may call on Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Rivertree Christian Church (7373 Portage St. NW, Massillon 44646) where Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. with Rev. Mark Brown officiating. Condolences can be sent to 4407 Greenmeadow NW, Canton, OH 44709.
