Alvin Tharp Jr. Obituary
Alvin Fields Tharp, Jr. 1933-2016
82, formerly of Massillon, passed away Tuesday evening, Jan. 12, 2016. Born in Auburn, W.Va., Nov. 22, 1933, a son to the late Alvin F. and Arawana (Hoff) Tharp, Sr., “Junior” was an honorably discharged veteran of the US Navy and had been employed as a steelworker with the former Republic Steel Corp. in Massillon. He enjoyed history and was something of a raconteur. Very proud of his family's long history of service to the nation, he was pleased that his service extended that tradition.

Predeceased by his parents; his wife, Colleen F. (Kirby) Tharp; a sister, Mary Catherine (Tharp) Goff and a step-son, Gary Lynch; Alvin is survived by his step-children, Karen L. (Randy) Curtis, of Vienna, Va. and John K. Lynch, of Massillon. Also surviving are his sister, Ruth Ann (Tharp) Smith, of Uniontown, Pa., six step-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be conducted at a later date. To sign our on-line guestbook, please visit:
